What happened to Laybuy?

Laybuy was acquired by Klarna, as announced in our press release here. This acquisition is part of our strategy to provide a more streamlined, secure, and robust payment experience by integrating Laybuy’s services into Klarna’s ecosystem.

Do I need to re-onboard with Klarna?

Yes, you need to onboard with Klarna as Merchant. We are working to ensure a smooth transition for merchants. We will communicate this with you and provide support throughout the process.

What does this mean for my business?

Once onboarded with Klarna if you have offered Laybuy previously, you can re-enable your existing Laybuy Integration seamlessly. You’ll gain access to Klarna’s broader suite of payment options and merchant tools.

Your customers need to follow a simple signup process to start using Klarna services.

Will there be any changes to settlement times or fees?

Where do I go to get reporting so that I can reconcile my accounts?

Merchants integrated directly with Klarna can access reporting through the Klarna Merchant Portal. Merchants onboarded through AirWallex can access their reporting via the AirWallex Merchant Portal.

Why do I have to sign up through AirWallex? Who are they?

AirWallex is a Payment Service Provider (PSP) and a trusted Klarna partner for onboarding NZ merchants. They handle payment processing and merchant onboarding on behalf of Klarna. Visit https://www.airwallex.com/nz

Why can't I add Laybuy by Klarna to my physical store as well?

Klarna does not currently offer a card-based in-store payment option for Laybuy by Klarna.
